Ray Fiori and Shirley Yard Win at Leadman Tri Life Time Epic Triathlon in Bend
Leadman Tri officials release names of winning athletes for the Bend, Oregon triathlon
BEND, Oregon--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Life Time – The Healthy Way of Life Company (NYSE:LTM) today announced the winners of the 2013 Leadman Tri Bend, held on Saturday, September 21 in Bend, Oregon. Competing against a stellar field of world-class professionals on the event’s ultra-distance course, Ray Fiori and Shirley Yard won the men’s and women’s divisions. The race began at Cultus Lake in Central Oregon and athletes participated in either a 250K or 125K course, both finishing at the NorthWest Crossing neighborhood center.
“We applaud all the athletes who participated in this year’s event,” said Keith Hughes, race director. “Everyone pushed themselves and showed great endurance and athleticism. The course updates we made added to the experience for participants and we had very positive feedback from racers.”
First place competitors included:
- Women’s 250K: Shirley Yard, Radstock, UK, 11:22:42
- Men’s 250K: Ray Fiori, Corvallis, Oregon, 9:05:15
- Women’s 125K: Heather Lendway, St. Paul, MN, 4:29:50
- Men’s 125K: Sean Harwin, Issaquah, WA, 4:23:52
Relay teams competed to win their combined weight in beer from Deschutes Brewery. Nicole Pressprich, Rob Angelo and TJ Paskewich made up the winning 125 relay team and Kevin McNease, Kyle Medlin and Jake McCall made up the winning 250 relay team. Athletes who finished the race within the allotted time limit received the coveted Leadman Tri Belt Buckle for their efforts.
Last year, the Leadman Tri Bend was voted the Best New Race of 2012 by Triathlete Magazine. The 250K course features a 5K swim in Oregon's deep, cool Cultus Lake, a 223K bike course around Mount Bachelor and a two-loop 22K running course around Tetherow Golf Course with a dramatic finish in NorthWest Crossing. The 125K course featured a 2.5K swim, 106K bike ride, and a 16.5K run. Relay teams of two or three people also raced both distances during the event.
